Event and major project traffic control

Two different kinds of work sit under this heading and they need different things. Pick the one that matches yours.

01Special Events

Public events

Parades, festivals, Nagar Kirtans, road races, street markets and community events. We close the roads, manage the intersections along the route, keep pedestrians and vehicles apart, and reopen behind you.

  • Your route and times — the city needs both before anything else can happen
  • A traffic management plan — for a road closure the municipality will almost always want one
  • A permit — applied for by the event organiser in most municipalities, though we prepare the plan it depends on
  • Notification — residents, businesses and transit may all need warning
  • Crew on the day — certified TCPs at each closure point and intersection

02Special Events

Apply early

Municipal permit processing typically runs three to seven business days once your application is complete, and an event application is usually not complete on the first try.

03Special Events

Major infrastructure

Extended-duration traffic management on structural and transit projects, where the setup changes across phases and multiple authorities have an interest.

  • Phased plans revised as the work moves
  • Long-duration closures with maintained delineation
  • Multi-agency coordination — municipal, provincial, transit
  • Night and weekend windows with restricted hours
  • Detour design and signage
  • Transit route and stop impacts

Why phasing is the hard part

On a project running months, the plan is not one drawing. It is a sequence, each phase requiring its own acceptance, each transition a moment where the closure is being rebuilt while traffic is still moving. Planning the transitions is usually where the risk sits.
